Mastermind

Mastermind is a two-player codebreaking game in which one player guesses a secret code consisting of four pegs with six possible colors. In 1992, Kenji Koyama and I published a paper on an optimal Mastermind strategy in the Journal of Recreational Mathematics. Unfortunately, the journal ceased publishing in 2014, so included below is a PDF copy of the paper, based on the original TeX.
